Chopta Tungnath is World’s highest Shiva temple located at a height of 12073 ft from sea level. Tungnath is the third temple of Panch Kedar circuit. I was on a trek to Chopta Tungnath in February ‘ 2018 and the magical moment was when it snowed at the peak of Tungnath temple.
Chopta is also known as Mini Switzerland of India and is a commencement point of the trek to Tungnath & Chandrashila. Nearby to Chopta is another small hamlet called Sari that serves as a base for Deoria Tal trek. Magical views of Deoria Tal and the sight of snow cladded mountains from the top are not to be missed if you are near Rishikesh.
