Shivangini Singh was among the few enthusiasts who had been selected as an official participant in the ClimateForce: Antarctica 2018 Expedition, which will be held from 27 Feb – 12 March 2018; where she would join a diverse group of people from around the world for a 13 days expedition to Antarctica for Climate Force’s and 2041’s – “Leadership on the Edge” program led by Robert Swan O.B.E., as well as learning exercises led by renowned experts on issues of climate change, sustainability, and efficient energy usage.

2041’ was founded by Robert Swan, OBE, the first person to walk to both the North and South Poles. His quest is to inform, engage and inspire the next generation of leaders to take responsibility, be sustainable, and know that now is the time for action in policy development, sustainable business generation, and future technologies.

Shivangini Singh is an avid nature lover, a mountaineer, trekker, and hiker, who believes in being one with the elements in order for mankind to progress in a sustainable vein. She is currently working as an Applications Developer with Oracle Financial Services Software and had completed her graduation in Electrical engineering from NIT Hamirpur.

Hailing from the electrical engineering background and having the fervor for saving Mother Earth from erratic climate changes; she aspires to power the cities of the future by employing Renewable Energy and other energy efficient systems. Proud of being a participant from Himachal at the global platform, Shivangini is confident of gaining firsthand exposure in combating the changing environmental scenario.

Belonging to a small town of Shimla, nestled in the lap of Himalayas, she has always admired and revered Mother Earth and The Himalayas. But over the past many years she observed the constant degradation of hills landscape and significant decline in snowfall and rains over the years, drastic climate changes in Shimla and others parts of Himachal Pradesh like erratic rainfall and snowfall, that has now started taking a toll on agricultural sector also and has affected daily routine of people as well. In a search for a scheme, she came across Climate Force: Antarctica 2018 Expedition, hosted by Sir Robert Swan, which aims to empower the next generation of leaders with the understanding to combat climate change.

Based on her learning and experience gained from this expedition, Shivangini Singh aims to educate leaders in corporate to consider the effect their decisions can have on climate change. She wants to make it easier for many professionals working in corporate, who are interested in helping to ensure sustainable development but don’t have the time to figure out how to, to do their part in environmental conservation. She wants to create programs/ modules in her workplace and for other corporates/organizations that would help drive environmental conservation. She wants to incorporate small changes into people’s daily lives that would go a long way in collectively creating a more sustainable world.
