Lhasa, Nov 21 (Xinhua)- The Suwalong project which includes the construction of a large hydrowpower station on the upper section of the Yangtze River is proceeding smoothly, according to the local authorities.

On Tuesday, the sluice gate on the Jinsha River was closed to make way for further building work.

The project is located in Southwest China, at the junction of Mangkam County of Tibet Autonomous Region and Batang County of Sichuan Province. It is hailed to be the largest power station in Tibet upon completion.

The station with a total cost of nearly 18 billion yuan (2.77 billion U.S. dollars) is undertaken by the China Huadian Corp. Read the full article here.
