The windy night at Dzongri will forever remain as one of the most uncomfortable nights I’ve spent amidst the mercilessly cold mountains. We were exhausted due to strenuous trekking uphill with an approximately 20 kgs rucksack on our back. We were to proceed to the HMI base camp which was at 14,600 feet, the next day. Our focus was to acclimatize well during the night too but the Winds of Dzongri were a bit too harsh and the neighboring tents’ top cover got untied. We forced ourselves out of the sleeping bags fearing the tents might collapse. We ran around with torches pointing at the ground looking for big rocks, ice axes, and all that can anchor our tents strong again. It didn’t matter however strong we tied, we ran out of our tents at least 4-5 times to fix them that night. The sky was clear, in the distance I could see white giants. At the base camp one day, I recollected what all we went through that night at Dzongri and managed to draw this. I couldn’t capture a photograph of that night, hence this small piece of art. I think art is one of the best ways to express an experience[and sometimes keep it fresh for a long time to come].

Thank you.
