We woke up at about 3 am and had a car arranged to take us to Tiger Hill to catch a glimpse of the sunrise.

Tiger Hill is the main attraction for people visiting Darjeeling since it’s possible to witness the sunrise over the stunning Himalayan mountain ranges. Unfortunately it was so cloudy we were not able to see it! Thankfully an hour or so after sunrise the clouds cleared up and we were able to catch the breathtaking view of the peaks of Mt. Kanchenjunga, the third tallest mountain in the world.

I would have to say it was one the most breathtaking views I had ever seen. It was the kind of view that you could just keep staring at it for hours. On a good day you can even catch a glimpse of Mt. Everest and Mt. Makalu, the fifth tallest mountain! The ground is extremely wet there so make sure you wear boots! The locals told us that the month of October is the best month to visit Darjeeling since the skies are the clearest and it becomes easier to see the mountain ranges. Overall, Darjeeling is a must visit for those exploring North India and the Himalayas.
