Bhutan is intriguing.  The place, the people and the breathtaking scenes of the Himalayas.

Bhutan – Paro – Tiger’s Nest

I was excited to be part of a car rally held in September 2016, intended at fostering friendship between the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh and the country of Bhutan.  Incidentally, the western side of Arunachal Pradesh and the eastern side of Bhutan are similar is so many aspects and on this car rally participants from both areas were quick to spot them.

On this journey our Bhutanese counterparts took us on a trek up to the Tiger’s Nest monastery in Paro also called Taktsang by the Bhutanese.  The trek was quite tough but every step up, every huff and puff up, was worth the effort.   The monastery is exquisite, with a history that will amaze every visitor.  The power you feel oozing out of every stone in the monastery is definitely something you must experience.

Every Bhutanese national who makes the trek up to the monastery, must do so, in the Gho, their traditional attire.  I did wear the Gho while in Bhutan, but not on the trek up to the monastery.

The trek, to the Tiger’s Nest, is an absolute must on every one’s bucket list.
