The growing diversity, the change in the landscapes and the emergence of a strong relationship with mountains are what Kathmandu International Film Festival looks forward to seeking and exploring. KIMFF brings to the Kathmandu Valley the range of films which screens films on Mountains, Mountain Environment, Culture, Communities from Various parts of the world. Where KIMFF screens the films on mountains, it also sets up a discussion forum, on-demand screening and also exhibitions of books and photography celebrating mountains.

The movies which are screened through KIMFF  deals with issues such as cultural practices, lifestyles, conflicts, wildlife, mountain climbing, environment, globalization etc. This Festival has in itself the very potential to attract Filmmakers, film enthusiasts, journalists, activists, and mountaineers. The Iota of this Film Festival has always been the trust of creating social and economic transformations.

This year’s film festival commences with the Asian Premiere of The Last Honey Hunter (dir Ben Knight), a film from Nepal. It puts across a unique insight into a dying Himalayan tradition. There are also cash prizes and awards attached to the International Competition for best fiction film and non-fiction film in the whole of Nepal. The top film from an International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD) member country, will receive The Best ICIMOD Mountain Film award for the US $1000 putting on screens the local talent of Nepal.
