She was little so were the pinecones
She was naughty so were the jackals in the night
Beautiful were the Orchids
so were the posies she made
Playing 7 stones and rubberbands during light
The little ones were on their own, making merry with bon fires at night
The mountains were by her side
every day she walked by the valley through the mist
looking at the curved roads down
homesick, wishing her family arrive all the time
now kalimpong was home & home was kalimpong
the Good Ol’ days of Deolo Hills
She sang UB 40, Eagles in the cottage
while hymns in the Church

She ate mulberries, squashes in the backyard,
Tibetan Shafales , Nepali titauras,  Bhutanese churpis
thriving on Wai Wai’s with her friends from other countries
they were always hungry
they laughed, played, cried together
they were small but they were grown up
those were still the  days of innocence , pocket money and letters
They loved the mountains
and the mountains loved them back
She had the wild flowers, the bees
the ladybirds and the centipedes
She looked at the ancient silk route
she grew up to the views of snowclad MT. Kanchenjunga
she was little when the mountains exchanged hearts with her
Years later she never ceases to  yearn for it all the time.
